ABOUT
Isabel Lane, an Oil Painter who works primarily plein air along the Connecticut Shoreline her home. Her work is influenced by atmospheric light, movement of waters, subtleties of color and the poetic foil boats present in abundance at waters’ edge. Whistler, Turner, Emile Gruppe being a few of her influences. Education includes an MFA and BFA, Illustration, from the School of Visual Arts, NYC, 1992. Also receiving a BS in Art Education along with her Professional Educator Certification from Southern Connecticut State University, New Haven, CT. Further enrichment was provided at the Art Students League of New York and The Lyme Academy of Fine Art, Old Lyme, CT.
She has enjoyed successful representation by the Cooper and Smith Gallery of Essex, CT since 2018. In addition, exhibition of her work since 1980 in NY, CT, RI, and Nicaragua has been met with success, recognition and honors.
Exhibition venues include; The New York Art Director’s Club, Newport Art Museum, Mystic Museum of Art, Courtyard Gallery, Mystic, Lyme Art Association, Stonington Plein Air Painters, Madison Art Society, Paynter Fine Art, Old Lyme, Maple & Main, Chester, John Slade Ely House, New Haven and as proprietor-artist of The Little Gallery, Chester, CT.
